The short answer

In the 12 months we reviewed, these eight problems were raised by the most companies. Shoppers can’t buy, the listing has stopped showing, the product ran out, or ads are spending without adding sales. Find which one it is before you spend more. Use the table below.

Key takeaways

  1. Work out which problem you have before you spend more on ads.
  2. One broken listing is a fix. The same problem across a range is a process gap.
  3. Every guide linked here gives the check, the fix and Amazon’s own source.

Which problems come up most?

We reviewed 12 months of our own sales conversations and account work, from 5 Nov 2025 to 5 Nov 2026. Of the eight problems on this page, these were raised by the most separate companies, roughly in this order: ad costs and results, stock, account health, falling sales, the Buy Box, suppressed listings, barcodes, split variations. Some are close, but the top three are well ahead of the rest. Prospects and clients are both counted. Listings and images are covered in our listing guide.

What if it’s more than one product?

One broken listing is a fix. The same problem across a range is a process gap, and it’s the sign you need a regular check. Our guide to running a complex Amazon account covers that.

How we made this

AI grouped the questions. A separate AI check read the records behind each line, and a reviewer who works on these accounts confirmed them. We count separate companies, and we only describe patterns we can find in at least three of them. Examples are general so nobody can be identified. Every Amazon rule links to Amazon’s own page, read on the date shown.

How this guide was made

Written by Robert Prime and reviewed by Atouka Tsochataridis at Mr. Prime, which runs Amazon accounts for UK brands. We used AI tools to help research and draft it; Robert edited it and takes responsibility for it. The Amazon rules are in the linked guides, each with its sources and dates, and the main pages are listed above.

Every figure above links to the primary source it came from, and we recheck them when Amazon changes its fees or definitions. Read our editorial standards. Spotted something wrong? Tell us through our contact page and we will correct it and note the change here.
